I'm
also looking for Trades or B&P for my son Declan: |
Trades:
Burn must be Disc At Once (DAO) from HD. I use MITSUI
Gold 80min/700MB as they rank high, but any
reasonable quality CDR is OK, no jewel cases, write only on clear
bit inside near hole, paper or cloth covers, bubble wrap, Australia Post
Bag no 1 is good. If we agree to trade by email first, you send your lot
to me and I'll send my lot to you, simultaneously. We each bear our own
costs. We now have an OZBOOTS mailing list for OZ traders go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ozboots and sign up. Sound: . My preference hierarchy is: 1 Remastered, 2 FM / TV broadcast, 3 Audience - Sound Board. I'm not a completist, I prefer a good sound, but I do like the odd quirky item. I would love that long Van rant at audience in NYC (got it - thanks Jeremy) and I am trying to build up an OZ concert series. I don't really want MP3s, but will talk about it, especially for stuff for my son, and, I must say I cant see that a lot of the so-so audience recordings can lose much, if anything, going to MP3. I'm now up to speed on .shn. Blanks & Postage (B&P): I am happy to do B&P if you are in Oz. Email me first. Overseas is possible but you must negotiate with me first. Its easier to trade, or send you a free starter pack, than B&P to USA and other places overseas. I can get 5 CDs to most of the world by air for aus$3. Try to get me interested or excited, I'm not too old yet. I dont mind sending a starter pack free to you - in return for trades maybe some time in future when you get established. I use MITSUI Gold 80min/700MB as they rank high but any reasonable quality CDR is OK, no jewel cases, write only on clear bit inside near hole, (I use those special TDK CD-R pens to write on my own sometimes) paper or cloth covers, bubble wrap. Put blank discs in an unsealed padded postal bag addressed to yourself and attach stamps (around aus$1 within OZ). Place the unsealed padded bag into another mail bag or envelope. The Post Office has a good range of packing. I now find those cardboard CD / Disc packs better than the bubble packs. Include a note or printout one of our emails detailing our deal to copy. Post it off. Keep in touch by email, but don't push me, I can't always do things immediately. The best explanation and simple instructions with photos of how to do B&P - are here - (by the old deadheads of course). Translate instructions into Australian. Communication: I will always respond - but because of work, family or burner problems I cannot guarantee a fast one day turnaround. I do this for fun and relief from work, not as a substitute for my work. However I will let you know what is going on usually. Technical: I use a machine that is only for burning. P2 X 233MMX x 128MB RAM. ACER BURNPROOF 16x10x40 Burner. No screen savers, no anti virus, no MS FASTbloodyFIND, no interruptions from network. I use Exact Audio Copy (EAC) and CDRwin / Feurio!. I copy, slowly, with jitter and error correction, any errors logged, from disc to a dedicated partition of 5 gig on my drive, with nothing else on the partition, which is defragmented after each image is wiped. A copy takes about 18 minutes to HD. I burn Disc At Once (DAO) from HD. I use MITSUI Gold 80min/700MB as they rank high. I write at fastest speed possible, usually takes 7 minutes. (my reading convinces me that faster MAY be better and generally is at LEAST AS GOOD as slower). I don't have time to listen to each burn and check it. But will redo any bad copies. I can include error log if you are that kind of person. My other 2 burners are both CYBERDRIVE CW038D 16X12X40 with ExacLink (burnproof) running on a AMD DURON 800 256MB RAM 2 X HDs etc.Heading toward DVD burner acquisition shortly. .SHN: I now do Shorten lossless compression if you would rather a cd of Shorten files. I have broadband so I can download but not offer log-ins to my site. If possible shorten on CD is prefered for trading. |
